When Sophie Lunzer, student, wrote a wellbeing manual to share with all students at the college, she didn’t expect to make headline news – but she did! See link here, https://www.times-series.co.uk/news/24365595.brampton-college-student-writes-mental-health-guide/

Sophie explains the motivation behind the manual here saying,

‘Having had experience with mental health struggles, I am determined to take the tips and tools that I have learned along the way and share them to contribute to young people having easy access to support- whether that be in a mental health crisis, or wanting to know how to help a friend who is struggling, or even just dealing with the stress and pressure that comes with exams.

I also feel very strongly about reducing the stigma around mental health, as I know that by doing so, more and more people will reach out for help when they need it. This is why I have also included a section at the end of the booklet about how we can do this by stopping using mental health terms inappropriately in colloquial conversation, and what effects this can have.

My passion has always been psychology and mental health, and I want to spend the rest of my life helping people who are struggling, to help them find a way forward one step at a time. To me, the booklet is my first step on that journey. ‘
