I want to take this opportunity to welcome all students and their parents, whether new or returning for second year sixth or starting A levels after GCSEs. I look forward to meeting many of you at our evening for parents of new AS and GCSE students, held on Tuesday 26th September.
I would also like to encourage you to attend a talk on Teenage Wellbeing from Ian Williamson on Monday 2nd October, at 6.30pm. Ian is a Child and Adolescent Analyst and is an occasional lecturer in post Jungian child analysis at Essex University. He recently published a highly acclaimed book, which was reviewed in The Times titled, ‘We Need to Talk: A Straight Talking Guide to Raising Resilient Teens.’ Ian is currently co-director of the Queen Anne Street Practice, and the newly formed Young People’s Counselling and Therapy Centre. In this talk, Ian will be focusing on parenting and understanding teenagers. Please save the date and an email invitation will be sent shortly.
Trips Coming Up in the Autumn Term
Art & Photography trip to Venice 8th – 11th October:
The Art Department is returning to Venice! The trip will involve going to see the famous Biennale, as well as the Damien Hirst exhibition, Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable. At this time, visitors can see cutting edge contemporary art within the culturally historical context of Venice, and so a trip here is a unique opportunity for Art and Photography students.
The Art Department is also in the process of organising an off-site exhibition at the end of January, for A level students to have an opportunity to present their coursework to the public. This is a new and exciting opportunity for Art students at Brampton. Discover more about Art at Brampton in our department video here.
Biology field trip 16th-17th October at Juniper Hall for A2/A1/A1t students:
This is a great chance for Biology students to get to know each other. Students will be completing activities such as moth and mice trapping, at a beautiful location. Remember your wellies!
